Movie Club | “Good Will Hunting”

The Southeast Steuben County Library’s Movie Club is a way for folks who love movies to connect and discuss a selected movie each month. Amelia F.H Cueva will select movies that are either in the Library collection, and/or easily accessible for streaming free, and will lead a group conversation on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30-6:30pm. Light refreshments provided. No sign up required, just show up.

The March movie: From Rotten Tomatoes: Good Will Hunting is a 1997 film directed by Gus Van Sant, and stars Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Stellan Skarsgard and Minnie Driver. Will Hunting (Matt Damon) has a genius-level IQ but chooses to work as a janitor at MIT. When he solves a difficult graduate-level math problem, his talents are discovered by Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard), who decides to help the misguided youth reach his potential. When Will is arrested for attacking a police officer, Professor Lambeau makes a deal to get leniency for him if he will get treatment from therapist Sean Maguire (Robin Williams). The story is from an original screenplay by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

This film can be streamed for free with your library card on Hoopla and Kanopy. There are also 14 copies of the DVD available to be checked out in the library system (none at Corning; however, it can be put on hold at another lIbrary and delivered to Corning)
