DESCRIPTION:We’ve all heard of book clubs\, so how about a Movie Club? Corning’s new Movie Club is a way for folks who love movies to connect and discuss a selected movie each month. Local artist and cinephile\, Amelia FH Cueva\, will select movies that are either in the Library collection\, or easily accessible for streaming for free and will lead a group conversation on last Thursdays of the month from 5:30-6:30pm. Light refreshments provided. No sign up required\, just show up.\nImportant: Please watch the movie ahead of time. Movie Club is a discussion group only. \nCharade (1963)\, directed by Stanley Donen\, and starring Audrey Hepburn\, Cary Grant\, Walter Matthau\, James Coburn\, and George Kennedy.\nWatch the original film trailer. \nTen copies of the film on DVD are available to be checked out in the library system\, and it is available for streaming (ad free) on Kanopy and Hoopla with your library card. It can also be streamed for free (with ads) on YouTube\, Tubi\, and  Pluto TV. \nUpcoming films in the program are yet to be determined. \nBelow are interesting posters from foreign releases of the film. \n     \n     \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The Southeast Steuben County Library will be the site for a Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday\, July 9\, between 9 AM and 2 PM.\nThe need for blood is high\, especially Type O\, but your donation of any blood type can help to save a life.\nIf you last donated blood on or before May 14\, you are safely eligible to donate again at this drive. \nYou can sign up by calling 1-800-RED CROSS\, or sign up on the Red Cross Blood Drive page: scroll down to July 9.\nYou can download the smartphone app to track your donation history and sign up for future drives.\nIf you have never given blood before and would like some more information\, check out this helpful page. \nUpcoming drives:\nFriday\, September 19\, 9 to 2 PM\nFriday\, November 14\, 9 to 2 PM\nThe Red Cross is coordinating with the Library to host blood drives on a 56+ day schedule: that means that each time you give blood at the Library\, you will be eligible to give blood at the next scheduled drive. The Corning Adult Writer’s Group has been encouraging and supporting fellow writers for over 12 years. \nWriters in all genres welcome. The group offers a hybrid meeting option: in person at the Library for those who are comfortable doing so\, and online via the Zoom video platform for those who are not yet ready for in-person. SUMMARY:Free Lunch for Kids ages 19 and Under
DESCRIPTION:Children ages 19 and under are eligible for a free lunch at the Library beginning Monday\, July 14\, and running through Friday\, August 22.\nMeals will be available in the Library’s community room\, from 12 noon to 12:30 PM on Monday\, Wednesday\, Thursday and Friday\, and typically consist of a sandwich\, fruit\, chips and a drink. \nEvery Tuesday\, beginning on July 15 and running through August 19\, a hot grilled meal will be available for children ages 18 and under from 12 noon to 1:00 PM. The hot grilled meals will be served in the Civic Center Plaza. Adults accompanying a child may purchase a grilled lunch. \nThe meals are provided in collaboration with the Corning-Painted Post School District.
