Explore basic acoustics through interactive activities and incredible slow-motion footage of pulsating musical instruments\, vibrating vocal chords\, and slobbering “raspberries.”\nDiscover what soundscapes tell us about the health of our planet. \nThe program takes place at the Digital Dome on the SUNY Corning Community College Campus. \nWe will meet at the Digital Dome. Miss Sue will pay the $4 admission for the first 25 attendees\, both kids and parents or  caretakers.\nAfter that\, people will have to pay the $4 admission fee themselves.

DESCRIPTION:Movie Club is taking a brief recess\, so the October\, November and December Movie Club meet-ups will not take place. We will be back in January.  \nThe Southeast Steuben County Library’s new Movie Club is a way for folks who love movies to connect and discuss a selected movie each month. Amelia F.H. Cueva will select movies that are either in the Library collection\, or easily accessible for streaming free\, and will lead a group conversation on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30-6:30pm. Light refreshments provided. No sign up required\, just show up.\nImportant: Please watch the movie ahead of time. Movie Club is a discussion group only. \nThe January movie will be: O Brother Where Art Thou\, an American film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen (AKA The Coen Brothers) and released in 2000. The film stars George Clooney\, John Turturro\, and Tim Blake Nelson. The film is set in rural Mississippi in 1937\, and it follows three escaped convicts searching for hidden treasure while a sheriff pursues them. Its story is supposedly loosely based on Homer’s epic Greek poem The Odyssey: Clooney’s character is named Ulysses Everett McGill (Ulysses is the Roman name for Odysseus)\, and his wife is Penny (Penelope in The Odyssey). \nYou can watch a trailer here.\nThis film can be streamed for free with ads on YouTube. There are also 13 copies of the DVD available to be checked out in the library system (only one at Corning; the others can be put on hold and delivered to Corning) \nComing up: TBA \n
