The Southeast Steuben County will participate in recognizing Children’s Grief Awareness Week with a CareFirstNY display November 18-22. The public is invited to check out a variety of books dealing with grief, and to color a butterfly in remembrance of a loved one. The butterflies will then be on display at the Library.
As part of the week-long observance, Senator Tom O’Mara will present a proclamation at 3 PM on Thursday, November 21, at the Library to recognize the day as “Children’s Grief Awareness Day.” The public is invited to attend this event.
“The goal of Children’s Grief Awareness Day is to remind our community that support can make such a difference in the lives of grieving children,” says Tali Sutton, Chief Executive Officer at CareFirstNY. “Sadly, we know that one in every twelve children will experience a major loss in their early years. Shedding light on this issue allows us to come together to support these children.”
