Former resident of Addison, and English teacher at Corning Community College Sandra Justice Hall will talk about her experience having complex brain surgery, twice. She will also read from her humorous memoir about her experience — As Long As I’m Down Here, I Might as Well Put on My Shoes.

Sandra says, “It has been almost seventeen years since my second brain surgery in 2005. Friends think I am brave to have undergone such complex surgery twice, yet I don’t feel courageous. It was a matter of assessing what my quality of life would be without it. It took six years for my tumor to be discovered in 2000. This was a long, frustrating process. Shopping for a brain surgeon is daunting. As I wrote this memoir, it became clear that I didn’t listen to my gut and stayed with doctors who didn’t listen. I also realized that I was reluctant to speak up to medical professionals. I was determined to get well and hope my experiences help you with your journey. I also hope you laugh at some of my experiences.”
