Library Advocacy Day : February 5, 2025

February 5 is Library Advocacy Day in New York.
What does that mean?
It means that we encourage our elected representatives in Albany to thoughtfully fund Libraries in the annual state budget, so that we can continue to provide the outstanding services and resources that you have come to rely on.

This year it is more important than ever to demand support from our elected officials in Washington, D.C.*

How can you help? We are glad you asked!
As a loyal Library Patron, you can help us get the message to Albany by:
1) filling out a physical postcard (pick up at the Library) or digital postcard to reach elected officials ( bit.ly/2025-postcard4libraries) We deliver literally hundreds of postcards each year at the Capitol.
2) Encourage your family and friends to do the same
3) Take a picture of yourself with the “I ❤️ Libraries” sign at the Library, and post it to social media with the advocacy hashtags: #LibrariesAreForEveryone and #FundLibraries and be sure to tag the Library and Southern Tier Library System: @ssclibrary and @sotierlibsys
Does all this really make a difference? YES! After these efforts every year, funding gets increased over the original proposed levels. Remember: Libraries Are For Everyone!
