Did you know that we have a Seed Library?
Where you can get free seeds for fruits, flowers and vegetables?
We do! How cool is that?
• In 2017, our adult services Librarian, Michelle Wells, wrote to a few organic seed companies and asked them if they would donate some of the previous year’s seeds to us; they did.
• Next, with a grant from the Southern Tier Library System, she was able to purchase a cabinet to store the seeds.
• Then the Friends of the Library pulled together a few gardening books from the Book Sale donations to establish a seed-focused mini library to accompany the seed cabinet.
The Seed Library operates on the honor system. We ask that you only take what you can use, and that you practice seed-saving and share any of the seeds you save with the library, if possible.
