The Southeast Steuben County Library is committed to supporting digital literacy* by offering one-on-one or small group coaching with several kinds of technologies. Our experienced staff can help you learn to use tech the way you want, by addressing your questions, challenges, and goals.
What kind of skills can our tech coaches help you learn?
• how to use the mouse and keyboard
• how to browse the internet and social media safely
• how to use email and text messaging
• how to use the Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• how to use Library apps such as Overdrive and Libby, RBDigital, Mango Languages and Lynda.com.
• Practical resume writing and online job applications
What kind of devices can you practice on?
• desktop and laptop computers
• scanners
• tablets and e-readers
• smartphones
• you may bring your own device, or try one of ours before you decide to invest in your own.
There are three ways to set up an appointment with a Tech Coach:
Visit: ask Library staff to refer you to a Tech Coach (if they are in the Library at the time) to set up an appointment.
Call: call the Library at (607) 936-3713, and dial the extension of the coach (given below). If they are unable to answer, please leave a detailed message and they will get back to you.
E-mail: e-mail a tech coach directly with your questions, or to request a one-on-one appointment (e-mails given below).
